lyrics

true love is real I
felt it in the mornin
wakin up there next to you

take us to school the
steps all worn and tired
classrooms filled with memories
pages line your favorite room

it’s okay
we carry our pain
in separate ways
on different days
but I’ll be there for you

when you want me to

true love is real I
felt it in the summertime
singin on the porch with you

we’ll light the candle
foretell all our fortune
tears back to the ocean
ribbon round the south and
when we finally split in two,

it’s okay
we carry our pain
in different ways
on desperate days
oh I’ll be there for you

if you want me to

true love is real I
wrote it in a postcard
one I never gave to you

real love is true I
taste it on my tongue each
time I sing these songs I
wear it on my sleeve I
feel it in the fog I
hear it in your laughter
swim in your forgiveness
meet me in the middle
kiss it where it hurts
